SDL International (London Stock Exchange: 'SDL'), one of the world's largest providers of globalization solutions, has announced a substantial contract with the BenQ Group, whose expertise is in the areas of Communications, Display Technology and Opto-Electronics.

SDL is to provide the translation for new content for the BenQ Europe website, in a wide range of languages, including English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish. SDL will also provide localization support for updating and extending existing online content.

BenQ's product documentation is also to be translated into Czech, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish. Over the years, SDL have built up a substantial Translation Memory database for each of the different BenQ products, which will now be utilized for all varieties of project work.

The use of SDL's translation technology results in a substantial reduction of the number of new words needing translation. Not only can this result in cost-savings of at least 40%, but the process also dramatically shortens the 'time-to-market'. Global brand is also protected since there is much greater consistency in the terminology used.

"In the past 3 years we have experienced SDL as a company that perfectly matches our technical localization requirements. Due to their solid working methods, they have consistently provided us with high-quality translations and localization solutions. The project management team always tries to satisfy our needs, in every way" said Esther Tekelenburg, Marketing Communications Executive.

BenQ Group, formerly known as Acer Communications & Media Group, has been working with SDL and its acquired businesses for over three years. This has included work on translation and localization projects for BenQ Europe and the BenQ headquarters in Taiwan.

"SDL is clearly delighted to have the opportunity to extend our strong relationship with the BenQ Group. Over the last three years, we have been working with a variety of their leading products, into a wide range of languages. We would like to thank BenQ for their continued confidence in SDL's solutions." said Dominic Kinnon, Group Divisional Director.
